Fridolin North Sea:

You know the story. A band, of course consisting of four boys who know each other from high school, boxed into a rehearsal room and come out with this year's hit, on which the story is that it "just occurred" while jamming. Let me make it clear right away: it's not the story of The Mountains.
First originated Michael Møller (moi Caprice) related to the brothers bar do oscar Frederick and Fridolin North Sea (The William Blakes, bar do oscar etc.) of former professional cooperation. So it was not just a good idea that occurred over a few beers and a stack of Beatles records - although that certainly can come very well out of that. Next, their numbers do not arisen bar do oscar in the practice room after numerous joint jam sessions, but out of a well-controlled process, where the goal was already defined in advance.
They wanted to create bar do oscar a pure popprojekt. Synthet bar do oscar and magnificent. There should be room for both Frederick's hip hop mpc, to Fridolins electronic dreams and Michaels indie vocals, but all within the framework that the numbers should bar do oscar appear similar single bar do oscar sharp and beat late-effective. Right out of the cardboard. Slam.
Does this sound commercial? Maybe. But the band is almost philosophical. The word "vision" appears repeatedly bar do oscar up when trying to describe the process leading up to the debut album The Mountains, The Valleys, The Lakes, which was released on March 10.
And it all started also as a kind of vision. Fridolin Nordsøe had produced the album You Can not Say No Forever (2005) with moi Caprice and was fascinated by Michael Møller musicality and way of working.
Frederick North: "I remember that Fridolin called and said to me: Hey, that Michael is, it does not matter what the chords he plays on the piano, they are fat and no matter what the song, he sings, it sounds great. '
And so it was decided. The three were mutually agree that they should do something together as early as today. Still, it should take a few years before they found time in the dense calendars bar do oscar to keep the dream of the yet unnamed band into action.
Fridolin North Sea: "I think it's perfect that it only happened now. It had been a very different starting point then. We all have moved us a completely different place along the way, from the idea occurred to we got it to fruition. Back then I was, for example, just someone who wanted to do something electronic. Now I actually experience it. And you can also hear on the record. That we can all suffered from it, the other can. '
'The Mountains is clearly an incredibly defined band. We're not one of those bands that has a huge pop hit, and then buy the plate, and it's heavy. The two issues we have as singles are extremely representative of what we do in general. We have allowed ourselves to be free to talk about what this should be. That it is to be effective, it must sound like a hit. We have not been afraid to talk about hits. "
Michael Miller: "We talked a lot about these plates where all the tracks just sound like singles. I do not know if it's completely succeed plate here, but it certainly has to be the approach to it. That we, every time we played a trick was to think: This must be the first single. For that, there are many plates, is of course that it is single that is best. When you walk in and hear Joy Division, what is it for a song you want to hear? 90% of the time it is probably "Love Will Tear Us Apart". Flaming Lips have insanely many great tracks, bar do oscar but you probably just heard "Do You Realize?" Ten times more than the other. This is what the single can. It is the most eloquent number. And it inspired us to have the approach to each track. "
Actually, it is almost surprising that three musicians with such varied backgrounds do not end up in a phrase that sticks in all directions. Frederick North has its roots in r'n'b and hip hop, Fridolin North Sea in indie and electronic music while Michael Møller is known for its lighter decadent, '80s-inspired indie rock.
Michael Miller: "What might have happened was that hip hop and electronic just clashed with this little grandiose indie universe, where I come from. But I actually think that the best moments on the plate had their own universe of sound, which probably occurs in the meeting between our different backgrounds. "
Specifically designed meeting of the differences in a tight keen idea generation, each of the three musicians sat alone for an hour and came up with riffs, sketches or småidéer which will then be played on the other. This process continued until there was enough material to potentially putting both the hard and dry it enough just as hard finished third in production. The ideas instinctively inspired the others in the group, was resumed and expanded, however, almost always with the musicians physically separated.
Frederick North: "In this project, I feel that we've got what may be the beauty of a sow
